Greg, an avid movie watcher, walked out of the movie theatre, having just barely seen the movie “Angels and Demons” directed by Ron Howard. Having loved the movie, Greg was especially moved by the choral music in the background. Not only a movie lover, Greg also enjoyed the beautiful music of a good soundtrack and his intent was to add to his collection. The nearby mall adjacent to the movie theatres, Greg was sure to have a music store. Despite his repeated attempts to several stores he could not find an affordable copy of the “Angels and Demons” soundtrack.
When Greg answered the phone, Shannon could tell that something was wrong and asked him. He explained to her that he was down because he could not find a copy of the soundtrack from “Angels and Demons” that was not too expensive. She smiled to herself and then happily explained to him that he should look for mp3 downloads online and that he might be able to obtain the soundtrack that way. Shannon told Greg a few websites he should try out and then told him that she would come right over to his place to help him find the online mp3 downloads.
When he first typed in “Angels and Demons” soundtrack he found many places like Amazon that sell the soundtrack but still at a price that Greg was not willing to buy. He did notice that he could also buy the mp3 downloads of the soundtrack for cheaper.
After showing her the bit of research he had done, Greg was delighted to buy the mp3 downloads of the soundtrack. Shannon stopped him and explained that it is not a bad idea to buy a few of the songs at a time but that it might be better to join on websites such as emusic.com. Places like emusic.com offer great monthly deals that allow music lovers to save money on mp3 downloads. Shannon showed Greg that since he buys a lot of soundtracks that he would be able to save money by downloading fifty songs per month for a low price of twenty dollars and seventy nine cents. Not only would he get great music like “Angel and Demons” soundtracks but for music for other movies like “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” or from his favorite artist such as Coldplay.
In no time at all with Shannon’s help, Greg was able to sign up to an account with emusic.com and then have as many of the mp3 downloads that he wanted. Soon his music collection expanded and he never had to worry about where to look to find the most affordable music out there. Emusic.com had everything Greg wanted and a few extras too.

It wasn’t the repeated references on “Best of 2008″ lists and it wasn’t Chris Martin saying that he felt that, with this album, they had reached their music making abilities. It was the fact that, at the Grammy’s, Coldplay had the courage to dress in alternating colored jackets as a shout-out to The Beatles. Now, I felt like I had reason to check out Viva La Vida.
In doing so, not only did I find a phenomenal album, I think I cracked the Coldplay formula. I’ve been a big fan of A Rush of Blood to the Head and Parachutes for years but I hadn’t quite heard the sound I heard on Viva La Vida. So here it is… if 50% of The Beatles, 40% of U2 and 10% of Radiohead (the 10% that doesn’t use computer generated sounds) had a musically gifted child, that child would be Coldplay.
The best examples here are “Cemeteries of London” which feels and sounds like a U2 song, maybe two albums ago, and “42″ which could have fit seamlessly on Sgt. Pepper’s. Radiohead can be heard in many of the song transitions and quieter moments on the album, which are too many to mention.
Now, I’m not saying that Coldplay is unoriginal or borrowed anything from these bands but the influence is definitely there. In fact, I have to agree that Viva La Vida is one of the best albums to be released in recent years and “Death and All His Friends” is one of the best songs recorded. All around, Viva La Vida is definitely a spotlight on using influences to create your own amazing sound and be truly original. What’s more, I also think it’s brilliant that the album ends with the same music as it started with, which has caused me to listen to the album over and over, not realizing that it had even started over yet. Those brilliant Coldplayers!

Facebook Marketing Basics
by Curt Clinkinbeard
10 Steps to Get Started with this Social Media Superstar
So the high school and college kids I know have been talking about Facebook for several years now. And like most mature, responsible adults, I pigeonholed it as being a place where kids put incriminating pictures out for the whole world to see and is just a more modern version of the chatrooms they talked on in middle school.
Call me officially wrong! About a month ago, I joined the Facebook community (that’s me joining the over 150 million other people worldwide – seriously!) I thought it could serve some good business purposes and that I would “dink around” with it.
Wow, was I surprised. 6 hours later, I had already connected with 48 friends. (I didn’t think that many people liked me!!!) Two days later, a high school friend of mine sent me an email through Facebook asking me about my consulting business. We met a few days later and identified several projects I could do for her. Probably the easiest client I have ever found! (Not to mention I connected – and get to work – with an old friend!)
So should you be on Facebook? If you target people under age 30, I think the answer is easy (its yes!). If you target people 30 – 40, you will start seeing more and more people in this age group on this site, and the 50 year olds are not far behind. (People are talking about Facebook!) If you are a local business, it is a great chance to stand out in the vastness of the web. I think the fit for retail is huge. And if you market to a group where there is a likelihood that they will get together in discussion forums, then you will find a place here.
Sure, there may be a few types of business that don’t fit, but for most, the answer is probably, “yes.” The cost is right (free) – so you will just be investing your time. (Warning, it can be addictive. My 8th grade girlfriend – yes, you really will connect with people you have not seen in 30 years – told me her husband calls it FaceCrack!)
OK, so you are curious. Here are 10 very simple steps to get started:
1. Set up a personal account – just go to www.facebook.com and enter your name and email. It will quiz you about your background data. The more you give, the more it will help you find friends and speed start your networking.
2. Connect with personal friends and family to learn the lay of the land. Get accustomed to sending a “friend request” and replying to friend requests. Write a few “wall” posts, and do a few status updates, and comment on others. Build a group of people you are genuinely interested in connecting with. I would suggest starting with friends, then you can move into business contacts.
3. Get active with it – there is a flow to Facebook. It has its own tone (a little more sarcastic and fun than traditional communications) and lingo. It is not complex to get the hang of it, but it worth giving yourself a little time to explore and understand the overall vibe.
4. Join a few groups – search for groups related to your business and sign up for some. See how groups and related discussion boards work. If your prospective clients will be on a group discussing, then join. Focus first on having real conversations and creating value, not just on selling. (That’s true overall!) Within the first week, I made friend in Singapore (of all places) from a group discussion, which could lead to some interesting things down the road.
5. View some of the business / brand pages. Do you like the rock group Coldplay? Are you a diet coke addict? Do you have a favorite local business who has a business FB page? (Or become a “fan” of The FAMEE Foundation.) Just go to that page and become a fan. It’s fun!
6. Set up a business page for yourself – so once you get comfortable with viewing a few other business pages, set up one for yourself. A note here, I found it VERY weird how to set these up. Go to a business page (like Coke, ColdPlay, of FAMEE), and at the bottom, there is a “set up your own brand” page. It is kind of buried, but set one up. And don’t stress if you don’t have 4,000 fans overnight, let it build.
7. Start a group related to your business – Think this one through and set up a group to discuss things related to your business. Look for ways you can create value.
8. Promote it – start to let your customers know that you have a Facebook page. Put it on your website. Put it on your business card. Weave it into articles and blogs (ie: this article!!!)
9. Seek out people who would make great customers or partners – then send them a friend request.
10. Then work it. Like any marketing tool, it does not grow itself. Put a little energy into this over the course of time. Likely you will find it fun. Log on and spend a few minutes each day.
Social marketing is a key trend. Facebook is one of many tools, but certainly has a lot of momentum right now and represents a significant opportunity for those companies who see a good fit and are willing to put a little energy into the process. Lots of people find it easier and more comfortable to network online than they do in person.
Probably the best advice is have fun. If you can enjoy how you market your business, then you will do it a lot more and you will get a lot better at it. See you online!

Easy to Learn Guitar Songs – Learn Guitar the Easy Way
by Easy to Learn Guitar Songs
Do you wish that you could play the guitar? Even just a few easy songs? Would you like to start your own band, or maybe just have a few songs in your arsenal to entertain your friends at parties?
The good news is that learning how to play the guitar is a lot easier than you might think. The better news is that the quickest way to learn the basics is to begin with a few easy songs rather than the traditional way of learning the different notes and chords.
There are some great, well-known songs out there that are easy to play because they consist of only a few basic chords. Even though these songs are easy, they are incredibly entertaining, and no-one will know how easy they actually are.
Some examples of these easy songs are:
Green Day – most Green Day songs are simple and uncomplicated but also sound great. “Good Riddance – Time of Your Life” is one of the easiest Green Day songs and is recommended for beginners.
The Beatles – this is another good example of a band whose songs are generally easy to learn. However, some of their songs may be more suited to an intermediate guitar player. “Help” is a relatively simple Beatles song which would be a good starting point for any beginner.
Oasis – “Wonderwall” – This is an iconic song that everyone enjoys. It is also very uncomplicated – perfect for a beginner!
America – “Horse with No Name” is well-known and very easy to play as it consists of only two chords – E minor and D.
I would also recommend the following songs for any aspiring guitar player:
Bob Dylan – “Mr. Tambourine Man”
Pink Floyd – “Wish You Were Here”
Coldplay – “Viva La Vida”
Using some easy songs such as these will make learning how to play the guitar easier and a lot more fun!

Internet has influenced the ticket industry too and has made it much simpler to purchase sold out concert tickets, u2 concert tickets, u2 360 world tours etc. Purchasing concert tickets online is much sensible as it saves a good amount of effort needed to purchase it otherwise. However you have to select a website which is real and provides concert tickets at affordale rates. You can buy a variety of tickets that are available online like, concert tickets, Broadway tickets, MLB Baseball etc. You may have tried several ways to buy concert tickets like calling the Ticketmaster or at the box office or may have tried to fix a deal with those who wait outside the location with a fear of being caught, but all these methods have proved to be fruitless, but now you can shop for the concert tickets through several websites that present concert tickets online.
The concert tickets are generally sold out before hand as the demand for concert tickets is quite higher than its supply. Most of the tickets are bought entirely by the advertisers, marketers, fan clubs, scalpers, tour sponsors, radio stations and many people who want to either make great profits or who want to promote their brand by reselling it to the spectators and they truly succeed in doing so as there are a great number of fans who are longing to watch the concert.
The rates are generally greater than the original value of the sold out ticket online as they not only add the service fees but you even need to pay for the convenience to purchase sold-out tickets online. And because of the greater demand for the concert tickets the rates are naturally higher than its original price. Actually people are prepared to pay higher price for the concerts that are popularly in demand like Britney Spears, Dave Mathews Band, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel and Elton John, Coldplay, High School Musical, U2 and a lot more concert tickets. The people who are crazy for such concerts do not mind to pay greater fees.

Has rock & pop music lost it”s identity?
by Tony Dunn
Many years ago, if you heard a song on the radio, in a shop or bar, you would immediately know the name of the artist or band. Back in the 80′s this was certainly true, especially the pop charts. Since the 90′s though this individuality seemed to trail off with musical styles from different genres being homogenized into rap, R&B and dance for instance. This could be due to the huge US gangsta rap influence — even the spice girls seemed to have borrowed from this. Fashion obviously has a big influence. Could this be why the 80′s is making such a big comeback?
Rock music, on the other hand has seen something of a Renaissance in recent years, often going back to its various innovations like punk, 60″s beat and classic rock. Bands like The Artic Monkeys, The Feeling and Franz Ferdinand are certainly good examples of this. The Killers and Coldplay on the other hand owe a lot to 8o”s bands like The Cure or U2 but made a style all of their own. The interesting thing with rock as opposed to pop is that the rock bands seem to stay together much longer. U2 are an obvious example. The Rolling Stones seem to roll on for ever and even Status Quo are still on the go and numerous others which you don”t hear much of these days. The biggest bands in pop on the other hand i.e. The Beatles, ABBA and The Spice Girls only lasted a few years — often being offered multi-million deals to reform with only the spice girls capitulating. Even so pop seems to have more comeback bands such as Duran Duran or Boy George
Heavy metal seems to continue its popularity unabated ever since Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin first unleashed their huge yet mesmerizing guitar sound onto the world. The different fads of fashion certainly did not have as much influence on this genre as it did on the other popular styles. Punk did not have as much effect on metal except it may have helped it become more popular and power driven with new bands like Motorhead, Iron Maiden and Van Halen joining the foray. psychedelic and bluesy rock on the other hand largely lost out to the punk movement with just a few of them surviving punk”s stampede for a few more years such as Wishbone Ash, Electric Light Orchestra and Supertramp. Pink Floyd are one notable exception with the album “The Wall” released in 1979, which ensured that they kept up with their punk and new wave rivals.
An answer to one of the original question may be that bands & artists who are self formed such as in rock and metal write their own songs or perform other people”s songs with such passion that they never tire of it, where as in pop the artists are often manufactured and usually tire of someone else controlling everything they do. There are exceptions even here though like Take That and The Pet Shop Boys who have always wrote their own songs. This may be what makes songs more memorable, artists who write their own material and have a certain fashion or style, This is certainly true in pop and rock but less so in metal where electric guitar playing skill or speed are usually more important.

Can You Learn Music At Any Age?
by Victor Epand
The world of music is an ever changing one, and musical tastes change faster than ever. Only 10 years ago, boy bands were all the rage and these days they are nothing but a joke. Nearly 20 years ago, New Wave and Michael Jackson were kings of music, now they are archaic and funny in retrospect.
With the way music changes at such an incredibly fast rate, it can be hard to believe you can learn to play an instrument when you are 40 years out of touch with the current music trend. Well, don’t worry. Just because you listened to the Dave Clark Five instead of ColdPlay, it does not mean you are any less adept at learning something new.
Thankfully, as a middle-aged adult, you do not have to worry about not taking the time to learn something. You can commit yourself, around your job and life, to learn a new instrument. You won’t have your parents urging you to practice and you won’t have foolhardy dreams of making it big as a rock star when you are 47, so you can simply concentrate on the music and playing for the sheer joy of it.
This means you will be able to practice for fun, not for the future profit, and you will be able to have no strings attached to the guitar, piano or other instrument that you happen to play. It is all for the joy of it.
When you want to learn to play music in your middle-age life, you are going to have a few options about how you want to go about it. You can find an instructor who will be more than happy to teach you. They are in nearly every town in the country, and they usually do not charge too much. Some will even have an instrument for you to practice on.
Another way you can learn is through DVDs that can be bought off a variety of internet sites, which will show you, in your own home, how to play the instrument. The beauty of this type of learning technique is that you do not have to worry about being embarrassed when someone 20 years younger than you is showing you how to play the instrument. Once again, you can just learn to play for the joy of it, without embarrassment.
Learning to play a new instrument can be done at any age by any person. You do not have to be an aspiring rock god to learn, and you can be a middle-aged housewife who is looking to try something new.
All it takes is the commitment on your part to take the learning process seriously and to practice. If you do this, you will succeed in what you hope to achieve, and that is learning a new skill when you are supposed to be set in your ways.
We are constantly evolving beings and we can shape our own destiny. You are not static or unchanging, so go out and learn a new instrument and let your creative path take a new direction.

Coldplay are one of the most prolific bands of the new millennium with a popularity to match. The tickets for Coldplay’s UK winter tour went on sale May 30th at 9:30am and just 20 minutes later both London 02 dates (December 14th and 15th) had completely sold out.
Coldplay’s last tour in the UK was at Manchester’s MEN Arena in December 2005; which was followed shortly afterwards with a four month tour of the US which culminated at Philadelphia’s Wachovia Centre. The band has a busy schedule for this latest Coldplay tour and will be playing two free shows – one in London’s Brixton Academy on June 16th as well as New York’s Madison Square Gardens on June 23.
With ticket’s already being in short supply, online ticket companies such as TicketNova is now one of the few places where Coldplay tickets are still available.
